NAIROBI, KENYA — The attempted removal of Orange Democratic Movement Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has thrust him to the centre of Kenya’s opposition politics after the death of veteran leader Raila Odinga.

The internal battle within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has elevated Sifuna from party administrator to a polarising national figure, drawing admiration from restless youth and criticism from party elders aligned with President William Ruto.
